The growing demand for hydrogen is caused by governments around the world, which are strongly committed to the production of sustainable energy. Green hydrogen is an indispensable link in a sustainable energy system. It can contribute to storing surpluses of solar and wind energy, replacing natural gas, serving as a sustainable raw material in industry and as fuel in heavy transport.

We are in long-term acquaintance with a leading Far East based exporter for importing and supply chain management of Electrolysers and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) for major plants and energy companies located in North America.

Canada has one of the world's most promising domestic markets for SMRs. Conservative estimates place the potential value for SMRs in Canada at $5.3B between 2025 and 2040. Globally, the SMR market is much bigger, with a conservative estimated value of $150B between 2025 and 2040.

The world’s energy systems are undergoing radical transformation driven by the need to mitigate climate change. Development of an at-scale, clean hydrogen economy is a strategic priority for Canada, needed to diversify our future energy mix, generate economic benefits and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

This Strategy seeks to modernize Canada’s energy systems by leveraging Canadian expertise – including increased participation from marginalized and underrepresented groups – through building new hydrogen supply and distribution infrastructure and fostering uptake in various end-uses, that will underpin a low-carbon energy ecosystem in the near- and long-term.
